Opportunities from Darryl and Nadine

You and I have the wonderful experience of turning on a tap and instantly having drinking water. That is in stark contrast with so many people in so many places in our world who daily struggle to find water.

My wife and I learned the hard way to appreciate water when we were assigned as missionaries to an isolated, tropical island off the coast of Honduras in Central America. On arrival we found out that turning on the tap produced no water at all. All our water had to hauled by hand from a well far from our house. Then it had to be boiled because of contamination before drinking or cooking. One bucket of water was all we each had for a shower, clothes were scrubbed on a washboard, and the toilet was out of doors.

When we were chosen for the $100 project we immediately thought of "Clean Water for Haiti". Since Compass has already had a Haitian connection we thought that's absolutely where it should go. We'll give you more details about this amazing project in our next blog.

  1. Perfect. Very excited for this Compass investment--the lack of clean water is one of the reasons for the spread of cholera and the hundreds of deaths from the sickness.
